Changing Your New Bird's Name

My advise is always to try to keep the birds name, but when the name is associated with something negative, or if the bird doesn’t respond to its name at all, I don’t see a reason why it would be bad to change it.

Sometimes, the names aren’t what we would choose, but it’s the name that they choose, and we have to respect that. It can help make the transition into a new home easier hearing something familiar and consistent. Other times, a change is needed.
