Limit Fruits For Your Birds

Birds should have fresh fruits in their diets. But, not a lot. Fruits aren’t as nutrient dense as veggies. Fruits are high in sugar. Most pellets are also incredibly high in sugar (like zupreem). High amounts of sugar can cause organ problems overtime. Another thing is it can bring undesirable behaviors like screaming and the start of abnormal repetitive behaviors like pacing. This happens because you have a high strung bird stuck in a cage or a 3ft perch outside the cage (general set up).

I only give fruit as a treat for training. These treats got handed out by my mom, someone most of the birds do not have a strong relationship with, only to increase her relationship with the birds. This is something highly valued for my birds, and they do not always receive them, so value to reinforce the behavior is high.
