Stuffed Artichoke Forager How-To

Stuffed artichoke foraging for parrots! I didn’t make this up; I’ve seen it everywhere. But, I never tried it with my parrots.

I’ve been on a mission to increase food foraging in the aha I can with the entire flock! Birds in the wild spend 8 plus hours a day eating, but in captivity, they spend between 30-90 minutes max. That’s a huge difference.

Some easy ways that I am doing it is by increasing their pellet size, as well as increasing the size of their fresh food. Even my conures will get a artichoke forager! Don’t under estimate these birds!

How I set up the artichoke forager was I did chop the food into smaller pieces than normal and fit them in the folds of the artichoke. You can put it in a baffle cage to get more foraging fun and increase the foraging complexity, or you can put it on a skewer if you’re strong enough. I just throw it in their bowls or on the floor of their aviary and let them go to town.

My guys didn’t really eat any of the artichoke, which is fine, but they ate everything inside! Be sure you click the link to the original post to watch the video on how to do it!
