Fresh Foods Fill the Gaps in Your Bird's Diet

Parrots should be given a verity of fresh produce daily. As we are learning more about parrots dietary needs in captivity and improving our quality of care given to them, we are finding that pellets are more supplements to the diet than a complete diet. Vegetables can fill in the dietary gaps and gives not processed vitamins. Fresh foods can be used as a dietary supplement, especially for birds like amazons who are naturally deficient in vitamin A.

I have diet conversation consultations available for those who struggle with their birds to accept fresh foods. No matter the bird’s size, species, or age, accepting fresh foods can happen! I taught my 57 plus year old red lored to eat fresh foods after being on a seed diet. If you’re ready to start feeding fresh, feel free to contact us for an online or in-person consultation.
