Why Your Bird Has Behavioral Problems

A lot of people will say a reason for their rescue bird’s behavioral problems was neglect and abuse, even if they do not know the bird’s history. But if that was only true, then why do I have loving parrot caretakers flocking to my emails and messages that have birds with behavioral concerns?

In reality, there are a lot of reasons why behavioral problems arise in parrots. There are two big categories they all fall under; first, not giving the bird the environment it needs to thrive and second, caretaker education.

Not suitable environments include toxins in the environment, cage size, time out of the cage, people in the environment, the energy level of the environment, foraging, enrichment, so on and so forth. Caretaker education is knowing to provide these things, being educated in parrot behavior, handling parrots, diet, husbandry, basic medical to know if your bird is sick or not.

That’s exactly why I do what I do. I work with caretakers one-on-one and through generalized information here on my page to educate caretakers to provide what their birds need in order to be successful. I work online and in-person with training caretakers to train their birds and suggest modifications in the environment based on the information they give to me. My sessions are incredibly detailed and PACKED with information. 1-2 hours of personalized information being shared with you about your specific bird and home, so you know exactly how to help your bird and situation! No need to try to translate online information (which may not always be true depending on sources) and even think if it’s applicable to your situation. “Is my cage really not set up appropriately?” “Is my birds diet really that bad?” “Am I mishandling my bird on accident?”

Working with a professional will stop the guessing game and trail and error. We are here to educate you so you can do better for the animals in your care! Invest in yourself and your animals; y’all deserve it. Fell free to contact us to get some help!
