Auditory Enrichment

Enrichment can come in many forms. Not only do we have our tactile enrichment through interacting with toys and toy parts. But there is auditory enrichment.

Auditory enrichment can come in many forms. It can be playing music or nature sounds. It could be a bell. It could be knocking on things. Some birds really enjoy auditory enrichment. My favorite auditory enrichment is ParrotTownTV.

What does enjoyment look like? It could be dancing or moving around. It could be sitting calm and happy. It could be increasing the auditory sounds by banging harder or faster. Vocalizing following the sound.

Boo, rescue moluccan cockatoo, is BIG on auditory enrichment. She always is ringing a bell, shaking her rattle toys, banging her beak on objects, and dragging her beak across textures to hear the different sounds.
